Excitement Builds for T20 Series Between India and Ireland, Says Patrick Duffy

Mumbai, June 12: A T20 series between India and Ireland is on the horizon. Patrick Duffy, the Consul General of Ireland, expressed great enthusiasm for the upcoming matches.

In an exclusive interview, Duffy stated, “We are very excited about this series. It demonstrates how cricket serves as a strong unifying force, bringing people together from distant parts of the world.”

He added, “The Indian men’s cricket team is becoming increasingly strong. We are pleased that they will soon play a T20 series against the Irish men’s team in Belfast at the end of this month. We are also thrilled to host Vaibhav Suryavanshi, one of India’s most promising young cricket talents. Having such a talented young player here is truly exciting.”

Duffy also took the opportunity to congratulate the Indian men’s team for successfully hosting the T20 Cricket World Cup earlier this year. He expressed equal pride in the Irish team’s strong participation and performance in the tournament.

He noted that the India-Ireland series is part of a larger and growing cricket relationship between the two countries. Last year, it was a pleasure to see the Irish women’s cricket team play three One Day Internationals in Gujarat. Ireland is also excited to co-host the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in 2030, with preparations already underway.

Duffy remarked, “Cricket is rapidly gaining popularity in Ireland, including among the Indian community living there. It is essential to recognize the significant contributions of that community.”

He mentioned that nearly 2% of Ireland’s population is of Indian descent. The Indian community contributes immensely to Irish society, culture, information technology, health, finance, engineering, and many other fields. Ireland is also one of the few countries where the head of government has been of Indian origin. Our former Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, is a prime example of the deep and positive ties between Ireland and India.

In conclusion, he stated that a strong and lasting partnership is continuously growing through cricket, education, business, and cultural exchange.

The Indian team will tour Ireland for two T20 matches on June 26 and 28. Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi may kick off his international career in this series.
