End the Ravana of Addiction This Dussehra, Urges Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasizes the need to combat addiction alongside celebrating Dussehra, urging respect for women and societal values.

Bhopal, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Central Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan extended warm wishes for Dussehra, emphasizing that addiction is the root of destruction. He urged people to “burn the Ravana of addiction” during this festive occasion.

In his Vijayadashami message, Chouhan described the festival as a sacred celebration of the victory of good over evil and righteousness over wrongdoing. He noted that as effigies of Ravana are set ablaze, he wishes all citizens, including brothers, sisters, and children, a joyous celebration. Chouhan encouraged everyone to walk the path of righteousness, equating goodness with Lord Ram and evil with Ravana, and urged people to distance themselves from malevolence.

Reflecting on recent societal issues, he expressed concern over incidents of violence against women, questioning why such evils persist. “We burn Ravana every year, but do we truly eradicate all evils?” he pondered. He stressed that combating these societal issues is akin to defeating Ravana.

Chouhan called for respect towards mothers, sisters, and daughters, highlighting that addiction is a significant threat to society. He warned that external forces are attempting to weaken the youth through various forms of addiction, which he likened to the actions of Ravana. He concluded by urging everyone to honor women and eliminate the Ravana of addiction, stating that only then can the true spirit of Dussehra be realized.
