Kolkata, April 27: The Election Commission has ordered a special campaign against bomb makers across West Bengal ahead of the second phase of voting. This directive was issued on Sunday, instructing central forces deployed for election duty to take immediate action.

This announcement comes shortly after the National Investigation Agency arrested the main suspect in the Vijayganj market blast case in South 24 Parganas on the same day.
Additionally, the Election Commission has asked the West Bengal Police to identify and apprehend bomb makers through a dedicated operation. In preparation for the second phase of voting, police have initiated a campaign to recover bombs. Based on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in the Majherhat area of the North Kashi Pur police station, where suspicious materials and explosives were seized from an abandoned house.
The Commission has issued a stern warning to the Kolkata Police and South 24 Parganas district police. It stated that if any incidents of intimidation or the use of explosives are found in areas designated for the second phase of voting on April 29, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the responsible officials.
This warning was delivered during a coordination meeting in Kolkata, attended by various officials from the Kolkata Police and South 24 Parganas district police.
The Election Commission has clearly outlined the responsibilities of station heads and inspectors in charge. It emphasized that any incidents of intimidation or bomb usage before or on polling day will hold the respective officers accountable.
