Faridabad, March 26: A shocking incident of fraud has emerged in Dubua village, Faridabad, involving a 70-year-old woman. The elderly woman was on her way to a nearby medical store to fetch some medicine when three young men stopped her under the pretext of asking for directions to a temple.
The suspects allegedly mesmerized the woman and stole her gold earrings, weighing approximately 6 grams, before fleeing the scene. Once she regained her senses, the woman realized she had been robbed and promptly reported the incident to the police. Authorities have registered a case and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant against such strangers and to report any suspicious activities immediately. The victim’s grandson, Darshan, recounted that while his grandmother was heading to the medical store, the three young men approached her, applied some chemicals to her hands, and during this distraction, they managed to steal her earrings.
The incident occurred around 9:30 AM, just a mere ten steps from her home. The criminals were reportedly lying in wait and approached her on foot. The elderly victim, Ramesh Devi, shared her experience, stating, “I was going to get medicine when they stopped me asking for directions to the Hanuman temple. Then they told me to show my hand, and while I was mesmerized, they took my gold earrings and ran away.”
SHO Sangram Singh from Dubua police station confirmed that they received a complaint from the elderly woman, stating that three men had stolen her earrings just 10-15 steps from her house. He noted that the woman was alone at the time of the incident. A case has been filed, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects using the CCTV footage and surrounding investigations.
