Mumbai, March 13: Amid rising international tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of undermining India’s image on global platforms.
Shinde emphasized the need for national unity during sensitive global circumstances, criticizing certain leaders for making statements against India while abroad.
In a conversation with reporters, Shinde assured citizens that the Indian government is closely monitoring international conditions. He stated that necessary measures are being taken to prevent any potential shortages of fuel or gas in the country.
He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally overseeing the situation, and both central and state governments are coordinating efforts to ensure that international conflicts do not adversely affect ordinary citizens.
Shinde urged the public to disregard rumors regarding fuel and gas shortages. He explained that officials have established clear arrangements for effective stock management. According to him, gas supply to rural areas will be regular every 45 days, while urban areas will receive it every 25 days.
To combat hoarding and black marketing, special task forces have been deployed in district tehsildar offices. These teams are conducting surprise inspections of gas agencies and warehouses, checking connection numbers and stock status. He mentioned that commercial distribution has been temporarily halted, but domestic gas supply continues as usual.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Shinde pointed out that he often travels abroad during parliamentary sessions. He accused Gandhi of preferring to tarnish India’s image overseas rather than discussing issues in the “temple of democracy,” which has become a habit for him.
Shinde also referenced recent security operations, claiming that Rahul Gandhi has failed to express pride in the bravery of Indian soldiers. He argued that such statements inadvertently provide opportunities for countries like Pakistan to speak against India.
Highlighting India’s rapid ascent to becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy and moving towards the third position in the global economic landscape, Shinde criticized the opposition. He stated that the country’s swift progress does not sit well with some individuals, leading them to choose the path of defaming the nation instead of discussing development. Shinde concluded by asserting that the public will respond appropriately to such individuals and support those working for the country’s interests.
