
Ducati has unveiled the Desmo450 MX Factory, a race-ready upgrade to its 450cc motocross model, enhancing its off-road competition portfolio. This new variant offers higher-spec components and a lighter kerb weight of 104 kg without fuel, compared to 104.8 kg for the standard Desmo450 MX.
Performance and Engine Features
The Desmo450 MX Factory is powered by a single-cylinder engine equipped with Ducati’s signature Desmodromic valve timing. This technology allows for higher engine speeds and extended over-rev, delivering 70 percent of peak torque from 4,200 rpm. The engine produces 63.5 horsepower at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, with a rev limiter set at 11,900 rpm. Additionally, the Factory model includes a full Akrapovič titanium exhaust with dedicated engine mapping, reducing weight by 1.7 kg and enhancing torque delivery between 4,000 and 7,500 rpm.
Chassis and Suspension Upgrades
The bike retains the aluminium perimeter frame from the standard model, weighing 8.95 kg and designed for improved ergonomics and ease of maintenance. It features Showa suspension components, including fully adjustable 49 mm upside-down forks with 310 mm of travel and a rear shock absorber offering 301 mm of travel. The fork sliders and shock body are coated with Dark Kashima for enhanced smoothness and durability. Weight savings are further achieved with billet aluminium Factory triple clamps, which are nearly 200 grams lighter. The braking system consists of Brembo calipers paired with Galfer discs, measuring 260 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear.
Advanced Electronics and Race Equipment
The Desmo450 MX Factory comes equipped with Ducati Traction Control featuring four levels of intervention based on rear-wheel slip. This system automatically disengages during jumps and can be temporarily overridden by the rider. Other electronic aids include Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, and a quickshifter. Standard race equipment includes a holeshot device, skid plate, front disc guard, and an RK MXU O-ring chain used on factory race bikes. Riders can also adjust riding modes and electronic settings via the X-Link app, connected through the onboard WiFi module.
Maintenance, Accessories, and Availability
The bike’s maintenance schedule sets piston replacement and valve clearance checks at 45 hours, with a full engine overhaul recommended after 90 hours. Ducati Performance offers a selection of accessories inspired by MXGP race bikes, excluding the factory-spec Showa suspension, along with a technical apparel collection developed with Drudi Performance. The Desmo450 MX Factory is currently available at select European dealerships featuring the Ducati Corse 2025 livery. Deliveries to North America are planned for January 2026, followed by other global markets.
