District Administration Takes Control of Congress Office in Sitapur

Sitapur, August 22: The district administration in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, has taken possession of the local Congress committee office. This action follows the inability of the Congress party to secure relief from the Allahabad High Court, forcing them to vacate the premises.

The administration’s notice regarding the office expired on Saturday, leading to the takeover. A team from the administration, including SDM Sadar Janardan Prasad, EO of the municipality Vikas Kumar, Tehsildar Sadar Ajit Jaiswal, and Lekhpal Anjani Kumar, visited the office located in the historic Ghantaghar area of Sitapur.

Upon inspection, the office was found empty, and it was sealed in the presence of a heavy police force. SDM Janardan Prasad informed the news agency that no items were found inside; the office was completely vacant.

He clarified that the property is classified as Nazul land. The municipality had issued a notice, the deadline for which had passed. The Congress supporters had approached the High Court but did not receive any relief. Consequently, the municipality proceeded with the takeover after the notice period expired.

The administration had previously issued a notice to Congress officials, allowing them 15 days to file objections regarding the Nazul land. However, no significant documents were submitted in response. Following this, a notice was issued for vacating the Congress office. During the notice period, the Congress officials attempted to seek a stay from the High Court, but their petition was dismissed. As a result, the administration has now taken control of the office.
