
Hapur, August 22: In a significant development, the police in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested a notorious criminal with a bounty of ₹25,000 after an encounter linked to a murder case. The accused was found in possession of weapons and cartridges.
Authorities reported that the encounter occurred during a routine check by the Hapur Dehat police. The main suspect in the Gaurav Tyagi murder case, Pradeep, son of Rajbir, was injured in the exchange of fire and has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to police, Pradeep is a resident of Mohammadpur Azampur village in the Babu Garh area. He was wanted in connection with the murder of Gaurav Tyagi, which took place on August 18 due to a long-standing land dispute. Pradeep, along with his brothers and accomplices, brutally killed Gaurav using a hammer and iron rods. Multiple charges have been filed against him at the Hapur Dehat police station.
Pradeep had been on the run, prompting Hapur Superintendent of Police, Kunwar Gyananjay Singh, to announce a reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to his arrest. During the operation, police recovered illegal firearms, cartridges, and the vehicle used in the crime.
DSP Anita Chauhan of Hapur stated that the police team attempted to stop a white car during their checks. Instead of complying, the driver sped away, eventually crashing into a tree. After the collision, the suspect attempted to flee on foot and opened fire on the police team. In the ensuing exchange, he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was subsequently hospitalized.
In a separate incident, police in Firozabad have apprehended three notorious thieves. Tundla Circle Officer Arun Kumar Chaurasia reported that a joint operation by the Makhanpur and Narakhi police teams led to the arrest of the trio following an encounter. Two of the thieves, Anuj and Mithun, were injured in the leg and have been sent to a hospital. Police recovered a country-made pistol, a motorcycle, and over ₹10,000 in cash from the suspects.
