Bhopal, Mar 27 : Rajya Sabha Member and Madhya Pradesh’s erstwhile chief minister Digvijaya Singh said on Sunday that he would submit an appeal in the state High Court against an Indore Special Court awarding him a year’s imprisonment for allegedly assaulting BJP workers at Ujjain during a programme in 2011. “The verdict was pronounced by an Additional District Judge. I have never harboured trepidation for the BJP and the Sangh. My name was not initially mentioned in the FIR but added owing to political pressure,” the Congress leader wrote in social media and shared a video of an incident that also occurred in Ujjain on the same day. “Why did police not take cognisance of the second one though personnel sustained injuries?” he asked. Singh, former parliamentarian Prem Chand Guddu and four others were on Saturday sentenced to 12 months in jail and fines of Rs 5,000 each whereas three individuals were acquitted. Those p shed were subsequently granted bail. Team-AC
