Ranchi, March 4: Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is once again in the spotlight. This time, however, it’s not for his performance on the field but for violating traffic regulations.
Traffic police in Ranchi have issued a fine against him for overspeeding in the Kanke area of the city. Surveillance cameras recorded his luxury car exceeding the speed limit. Consequently, a ticket was issued under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The fine for driving above the designated speed limit is ₹1,000. This action was taken under the e-challan system. The vehicle involved is a black Mercedes. As of now, neither Dhoni nor his representatives have provided an official response regarding the incident.
The traffic department emphasizes that the same rules apply to all citizens. Dhoni is frequently seen driving various vehicles in his hometown of Ranchi. His garage boasts several luxury cars, including a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Trackhawk, a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, and multiple superbikes.
Additionally, last week, the Jharkhand State Housing Board issued a show-cause notice to Dhoni regarding the alleged commercial use of a residential plot in Ranchi. The board has requested a written explanation from him within 15 days.
According to officials, the plot designated as HIG-10/A in Harmu Housing Colony was allocated solely for residential purposes. However, recent claims suggest that a pathology lab is being operated from the premises.
