
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reaffirmed her confidence in the city’s metro transport system on Friday and assured continued financial and administrative support for the expansion of the network.
At the inauguration of a new electric Receiving Sub-Station (RSS) near Park Street, close to the Central Vista Project, she stated that the Delhi government aims to further extend the metro network as a major mode of public transport.
The Chief Minister announced that work on new corridors will commence soon, with the government committed to providing ongoing financial and administrative assistance for metro expansion.
Expressing optimism, she said the metro-based transportation system will offer Delhi better, more accessible, and environmentally friendly public transit facilities.
She highlighted that the network is moving towards nearly 500 kilometres in length, progressing with a highly reliable and fault-free model.
CM Gupta shared that over 3.5 million passengers travel daily on the Delhi Metro, making it the lifeline of the national capital.
She described the inauguration of the electric Receiving Sub-Station as a significant example of the government’s commitment to safe, modern, and sustainable infrastructure for the metro.
This project is a step toward making Delhi a smart city by ensuring a reliable power supply for the expanding metro network.
The sub-station will provide continuous and dependable electricity to the key metro routes, strengthening metro services and supporting future network growth.
The Chief Minister noted that the sub-station was rebuilt using new and advanced technologies and that completing this construction within 18 months is an important achievement.
During the event, she also received detailed briefings from officials about the sub-station’s technology and operations.
She emphasized that the sub-station is designed to prevent any power-related issues for the Delhi Metro lines, ensuring uninterrupted metro services.
