New Delhi, August 26: The Delhi government’s ambitious ‘Laxmi Scheme’ was launched on Wednesday by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. During the event, she distributed approval letters to thousands of women and initiated the process of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the monthly assistance of ₹2,500.
The enthusiasm among the beneficiaries was palpable. One woman expressed her joy, stating, “I am very happy. Thank you so much. This financial support comes as a huge help before Raksha Bandhan.”
Another beneficiary described the scheme as a symbol of women’s liberation, saying, “For housewives, August 15 and January 26 have now arrived. Until now, only earners were free; now we are free too. This will provide us significant financial assistance.”
On this occasion, BJP MLA Anil Goyal remarked, “Today, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has issued certificates to thousands of women, and the ₹2,500 monthly assistance will be sent via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This was the ‘Modi Guarantee’ given during the elections when the government was forming in Delhi, and today that guarantee is being fulfilled. This proves that there is no difference between BJP’s words and actions. Thousands of women received certificates today, and the remaining women who registered will receive ₹2,500 in their accounts for Raksha Bandhan.”
It is noteworthy that on Tuesday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had posted on her social media account, informing that eligible women would receive approval letters under the Laxmi Scheme, and from September 1, ₹2,500 would be directly credited to their bank accounts each month. This support aims to empower them, instill new courage in their dreams, and enable the women of Delhi to make decisions with confidence.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the scheme is receiving unprecedented enthusiasm, which speaks volumes. Millions of women have already registered, and many more sisters are continuously joining this journey of empowerment.
