Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Reviews ₹3,786 Crore Development Projects

New Delhi, March 6: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted a review of development projects worth ₹3,786 crore on Friday. She issued strict directives to departmental officials to complete these projects before the upcoming monsoon season.

The Chief Minister chaired a meeting focused on ongoing development initiatives under the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF), the Delhi Village Development Board (DVDB), and the Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board (TYADB).

Present at the meeting were DVDB Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, TYADB Chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely, and other senior officials from various departments.

Gupta emphasized that the progress of these development projects should be visible at the grassroots level. According to her, approvals have been granted for approximately ₹3,786 crore worth of development projects across these three departments.

She stated that ensuring the utilization of budgetary funds for development projects is a top priority for the state government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Gupta instructed officials to expedite the processes related to development projects at the start of the new financial year to ensure timely completion.

The Chief Minister highlighted that a significant number of projects have been approved under the CMDF scheme to strengthen infrastructure and accelerate local development in the national capital.

So far, 3,812 development projects have received administrative approval under this scheme, with an estimated total cost of approximately ₹1,798.85 crore. These projects include the construction of roads and drains, water supply works, streetlight installations, park developments, and other essential infrastructure facilities.

Gupta noted that these projects are being implemented through various agencies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), the Public Works Department (PWD), the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). Most projects are being executed through the MCD.

Following the review meeting, the Chief Minister stated that the Delhi government is consistently taking solid steps for the overall development of villages. In this regard, 707 development projects have been approved in various rural areas under the DVDB, with an expenditure of approximately ₹1,557 crore.

Gupta further mentioned that these initiatives aim to strengthen infrastructure in villages and improve the living standards of residents.
