New Delhi, March 24: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the “Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay” budget for 2026-27 presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the state assembly on Tuesday.
He stated that inspired by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s ‘Antyodaya’ principle and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s holistic development policy, this budget benefits every section of society.
With a record allocation of ₹1.03 lakh crore, this budget marks the largest in Delhi’s history. It covers approximately 74% of the state government’s own revenue expenditures, while the remaining 26% has clearly defined allocations, making it a self-reliant budget.
Sachdeva emphasized that this budget is aimed at developing Delhi, dedicating over 31% or ₹32,360 crore to the maintenance and development of education and health services.
Transportation and urban development are crucial aspects for any national capital. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s principles, the Rekha Gupta government has allocated 23.32% of the budget estimate to lay the foundation for Delhi 2047 in these sectors.
The Delhi BJP President noted that the Gupta government has fulfilled its commitment to “Sarvajan Sukhay, Sarvajan Hitay” by allocating ₹1,777 crore for better maintenance of the agricultural sector and rapid urbanization of villages, along with ₹10,537 crore for social security.
The Gupta administration had initiated the distribution of free gas cylinders to needy families during Holi in the fiscal year 2025-26. In the 2026-27 budget, ₹260 crore has been allocated for providing gas cylinders to these families and ₹450 crore for free bus travel for women and transgender individuals, reflecting its compassionate governance.
Sachdeva asserted that undoubtedly, the second budget of the Rekha Gupta government, which has marked a remarkable first year of her tenure, will elevate Delhi to new horizons.
