New Delhi, April 1: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for spreading misinformation about the ‘Saheli Pink Card’ used by women on DTC buses. This statement came after AAP activists shared misleading videos with journalists.
Sachdeva urged women to be cautious of false information and to use their Pink Cards confidently. He pointed out that AAP leaders have been misusing videos to mislead women into believing that once they tap their Pink Card on the bus, they cannot tap it again for the next hour.
“This is completely false propaganda,” Sachdeva stated. On Monday, members of the women’s wing tested the system and successfully tapped their Pink Cards three times within just half an hour.
He encouraged women in Delhi to travel freely anywhere in the city using their Pink Cards or Pink Tickets on DTC’s modern e-buses and other buses. He assured that Pink Tickets will remain available on buses for the next few months, considering the time required to issue Pink Cards to millions of women.
Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the ‘Saheli Pink Card’ scheme is operating “100 percent” efficiently without any issues for women traveling by bus. In a post on social media platform X, she launched a sharp attack on her political opponents, accusing them of feeling uncomfortable with initiatives aimed at empowering women.
Gupta sarcastically remarked, “If they are bothered by girls riding bicycles, how will they like the ‘Saheli Pink Card’?” She reiterated that the Pink Saheli Card scheme is running smoothly and continuously benefiting women across the national capital. In her post, she stated, “The Pink Saheli Card is working perfectly. It provides free travel. Tap the bus and travel without any worries.”
In a video message accompanying her statement, Gupta addressed the “false propaganda” being spread about the scheme. She claimed that certain political elements are deliberately spreading rumors to create confusion among women using the card.
