DA Hike Announced: Gujarat Government Increases Dearness Allowance for Over 10 Lakh Employees and Pensioners

In a welcome move for government employees and pensioners, the Gujarat government led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), effective from January 1, 2025. The announcement was made following a state cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, bringing financial relief and festive cheer to lakhs of employees and pensioners.

2% to 6% DA Hike Based on Pay Commission

According to the state government, the DA hike applies to employees receiving salaries under the 6th and 7th Pay Commissions. The DA has been increased by 2% for 7th Pay Commission beneficiaries, while those under the 6th Pay Commission will receive a 6% hike. This increase is aligned with the central governmentโ€™s latest revision of DA rates.

Over 10 Lakh Beneficiaries to Receive Arrears with April Salary

The Chief Minister announced that the arrears for the months of January to March 2025 will be disbursed in a single installment with the April 2025 salary. A total of 4.78 lakh government employees and 4.81 lakh retired personnel will benefit from this decision.

The Gujarat state government will release โ‚น235 crore towards arrears and an additional โ‚น946 crore annually as part of the increased salaries, allowances, and pensions.

Official Confirmation and Implementation Orders

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel shared the update via social media, confirming the DA hike and its financial implications. Meanwhile, state government spokesperson and Health Minister Rishikesh Patel confirmed that the Finance Department has issued directives to implement the cabinetโ€™s decision without delay.
