New Guidelines Aim to Enhance Transparency, Empower Students with Informed Decision-Making
NEW DELHI, May 3, 2025 — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a significant change to its post-result grievance redressal process for Class X and XII students. In an official notification dated May 2, 2025, CBSE announced that students will now need to first obtain a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheets before proceeding with mark verification or re-evaluation requests.
This new protocol, which will take effect from the CBSE Board Exam Results 2025, is designed to increase transparency in the evaluation process and allow students to make informed choices before initiating any formal review.

What Has Changed in the CBSE Post-Result Procedure?
Previous Process (Until 2024):
-
Verification of Marks
-
Photocopy of Evaluated Answer Sheet
-
Re-evaluation
Revised Process (From 2025 Onwards):
-
Photocopy of Evaluated Answer Sheet
-
Verification of Marks and/or Re-evaluation
Under the new system, students will first be able to view their evaluated answer sheets, including comments from examiners and marked answers. This allows them to assess whether any answers were left unmarked, wrongly totaled, or inaccurately evaluated, helping them decide the next course of action more accurately.
Benefits of the New Evaluation Sequence
-
Greater transparency in the evaluation process
-
Improved decision-making for students and parents
-
Autonomy to apply for either verification, re-evaluation, or both
-
Better understanding of examiner comments and awarded marks
-
Prevention of unnecessary verification/re-evaluation requests
CBSE clarified that this move is aligned with its commitment to student welfare and a fair examination system. Students will now be empowered to base their verification or re-evaluation requests on clear evidence rather than speculation.
Timelines and Detailed Guidelines to Follow After Result Declaration
CBSE has confirmed that complete details regarding application timelines, fees, and the step-wise procedure for obtaining answer sheet photocopies, mark verification, and re-evaluation will be published following the official declaration of results.
CBSE Class X and Class XII Results 2025 are expected to be released between May 7 and May 12, 2025.
