Jaipur, May 4 — The influence of a western disturbance continues to bring relief from scorching heat across Rajasthan. On Sunday, thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall were reported in nearly half a dozen cities, including Sikar and Jodhpur. Sikar recorded the highest rainfall at approximately 1 inch (20 mm). The stormy weather brought down daytime temperatures across the state, with no city crossing the 40°C mark.

Rainfall and Temperature Drop Across Rajasthan
According to the Meteorological Centre Jaipur, widespread impact of the western disturbance led to a noticeable dip in temperatures ranging from 2°C to 8°C in both day and night readings. Chittorgarh was the warmest district on Sunday, registering a maximum temperature of 39.7°C and a minimum of 26.6°C.
Director of the Meteorology Centre, Radheshyam Sharma, said a cyclonic circulation persists over central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab and northwestern Rajasthan. Simultaneously, moisture is being funneled into the region from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, fueling storm activity.
Rainfall was reported post-afternoon across parts of Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, and Udaipur divisions. The continuing sequence of western disturbances is expected to trigger more rain and thunderstorms over the next 4–5 days.
Heavy Rainfall Forecast in Southwest Rajasthan
Between May 5 and 7, parts of southwestern Rajasthan—including Barmer and Jalore—are likely to witness intense thunderstorms, wind speeds of 40–50 km/h, and moderate to heavy rainfall. The meteorological department has ruled out any heatwave conditions in the state for the coming week.
On Sunday, Sikar recorded 20 mm of rainfall. Phalodi saw the steepest drop in daytime temperature with a fall of 7.4°C, while Barmer reported a 7.7°C drop in nighttime temperature.
Jaipur Weather Update: Cloudy Skies and Strong Winds
In Jaipur, scattered clouds lingered throughout the day, accompanied by occasional gusty winds. This led to a decline in temperature, offering significant relief from the intense heat. Sunlight played hide-and-seek with the clouds. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 36.7°C and a minimum of 23.8°C, marking a slight decrease of 0.1°C and 1.4°C respectively.
The IMD forecasts continued cloud cover with chances of thunderstorms and rain in Jaipur for the next three days.
