D.K. Shivakumar Discusses Political Meetings in New Delhi Amidst Karnataka Discontent

New Delhi, April 24: Amid ongoing discontent within the ruling party in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar met with Congress leaders in the capital. He declined to share details about the meetings, stating he would not disclose the names of those he met.

Shivakumar remarked, “I have met with party leaders. I will continue my work, but I will not reveal whom I met. I did not come to Delhi just to enjoy the air here.”

Speaking in New Delhi on Thursday night, when asked if he would submit an election report to party leaders, he responded, “I have campaigned in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam. I need to inform my leaders about the developments in these states. The party assigned me the responsibility for campaigning there. Conducting elections in Karnataka is my duty as KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister, and I will fulfill it.”

When questioned about potential changes in the state, he said, “Can I discuss such matters in front of the media while holding a responsible position? I will not talk about this. Please do not try to extract such information from me.”

Regarding reports of dissatisfaction within the Muslim community and meetings between legislators and ministers with the Chief Minister, he stated, “We have received some information at the party level. We all need to work together.”

Responding to reports about meetings among close ministers of the Chief Minister, he said, “I have no information about this. I do not know who is close to whom. I have nothing to do with such meetings.”

When asked about plans for another trip to Delhi by senior legislators to pressure for a cabinet reshuffle, he replied, “Let’s wait and see.”

On the elections in various states, he noted, “Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam, along with by-elections in Karnataka, have concluded. We also held a Zoom meeting regarding the Assam elections on Wednesday. I will visit Assam again. We will form a coalition government in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our leaders and workers have worked hard in Assam, and our coalition has received positive feedback.”

During his visit to Delhi, he mentioned, “I went to Hyderabad with my family and came to Delhi from there. I did not come to Delhi just for fresh air. I need to discuss issues related to Bengaluru with central ministers. I requested a meeting, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has scheduled a time for me on Friday at 11:45 AM.”

In response to demands for the cancellation of suspensions of Muslim leaders, he stated, “Who have we suspended? They resigned from their positions themselves. Please check what is written in the resignation.”
