Congress MP Pawan Khera Criticizes Punjab Government Over Law and Order Issues

Pawan Khera slams Punjab and central governments, asserting public discontent over law and order and drug issues in the state.

Jalandhar, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Pawan Khera launched a scathing attack on both the Punjab and central governments in Jalandhar, addressing the recent troubling events that have exposed the state’s drug crisis and law enforcement failures. He emphasized that the public feels deceived and angry over the current situation.

Khera described a recent tragic incident as a reflection of Punjab’s grim reality concerning drugs and public safety. “This incident reveals the true state of affairs in Punjab,” he stated. “People are furious and feel betrayed. When leaders make grand promises and then let the public down, it is something they cannot tolerate.”

He also mentioned the recent appointment of Paragat Singh as the new head of the Punjab Congress, expressing optimism about the party’s future. “There is immense joy among the people. Workers are excited. As a former athlete, Paragat embodies the spirit of teamwork, and together, we will fight the upcoming elections with full strength,” Khera said.

Khera pointed out that Sachin Pilot, the newly appointed in-charge, is currently in Punjab to engage with the community and party members. He reiterated that the Congress agenda will be shaped by the public, not dictated from above. “Our leader Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that any manifesto should be created through dialogue with the people, not in isolation,” he added.

Turning his attention to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Punjab, Khera questioned the effectiveness of the government’s control over the border areas. “If the border region is under your control, why is there negligence? You claim to have a double or triple-engine government, yet drugs continue to flow through ports like Mundra. Why is this happening?” he asked.

Khera also commented on the appointment of Dushyant Gautam as the Governor of Sikkim, criticizing the government for decisions that he believes are made with the confidence that they can manipulate elections. “This is happening across the country. Such foolish decisions are taken when they think they can steal votes and win,” he concluded.
