New Delhi, March 18: Following the murder incident in Uttam Nagar, Congress MP Mohammad Javed from Kishanganj, Bihar, has raised serious allegations regarding open threats faced by members of a specific community. He has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging immediate action and accountability for any lapses in maintaining law and order.
In his letter, Javed expressed deep concern and urgency regarding the troubling events occurring in Uttam Nagar, where members of the Muslim community are reportedly facing open threats and intimidation, creating a climate of fear in their daily lives.
He further stated, “What is unfolding is not merely an isolated law and order issue but a series of targeted hostility that raises serious questions about the state’s ability and willingness to provide equal security to all citizens. The prevalence of public threats, inflammatory slogans, and the spread of hate-filled material has created an atmosphere where a segment of Indian citizens feels unsafe even in the capital.”
Javed emphasized that the Constitution of India does not recognize ‘fear’ as a condition for citizenship. Articles 14, 19, and 23 guarantee the rights to equality, freedom, and a dignified life, yet these rights appear to be under threat in Uttam Nagar.
In his appeal to Home Minister Amit Shah, the Congress MP demanded, “Take immediate cognizance of this situation and ensure accountability for any lapses in maintaining law and order. Additionally, direct the Delhi Police to act firmly and fairly against those spreading hate, issuing threats, or attempting to communalize the situation.”
Javed called for clear and effective security measures to be ensured for vulnerable and sensitive residents, aiming to restore their trust on the ground. He also requested an independent review of police actions to address concerns related to bias or inaction.
