Thiruvananthapuram, May 7: Congress MP JB Mathur shared his views on the political situation in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that respecting the people’s decision is fundamental to democracy, and violence can never be a solution under any circumstances.
Regarding the political climate in Tamil Nadu, Mathur stated, “It is essential to accept the people’s decision in a democracy. Generally, the party with the most seats is invited to form the government. However, it remains to be seen what political agenda emerges in the current circumstances. The direction of state politics will become clearer in the coming days.”
Reacting to the recent Congress victory and the celebrations among workers, Mathur described it as a significant success for the party, with activists celebrating in their own ways.
He noted that the posters, banners, and welcome events reflect the sentiments of the workers. However, he clarified that Congress leadership does not base decisions on the number of posters or banners. The party proceeds based on organizational processes and collective leadership decisions.
Regarding the Congress legislative party meeting in Kerala, he mentioned that the entire process is predetermined. Senior Congress leaders Ajay Maken and Mukul Wasnik will visit Thiruvananthapuram to gather opinions from legislators and leaders before submitting their report to the Delhi high command. The final decision will be made by the party leadership, which all leaders and workers will welcome.
On the welcome event organized by the Women’s Congress, Mathur remarked that the newly elected legislators have made history. The Women’s Congress is enthusiastically welcoming its members, as these leaders have worked hard to bring smiles to the faces of the public. This victory is a result of the workers’ efforts and the trust of the people.
In response to the recent shooting of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s PA in West Bengal, Mathur expressed deep sorrow. He stated that violence, bloodshed, and murder politics by any party are extremely unfortunate.
Mathur added that the full truth is yet to emerge, so it would be inappropriate to jump to conclusions hastily. However, he made it clear that Congress stands with the victim’s family and that they deserve justice. He referenced Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence, asserting that violence can never be a solution.
