New Delhi, August 11: Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat has targeted the BJP regarding the police action against students in Jharkhand. In an interview with a news agency, he stated that Rahul Gandhi personally engaged with the protesting students and condemned any form of violence. However, he noted that no senior BJP leader reached out to the students. Bhagat emphasized that Congress seeks solutions in the interest of students, while the BJP is merely playing politics.
Regarding the police action in Jharkhand, Bhagat remarked, “Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that regardless of the government, he strongly condemns any violence or police action. He spoke with the protesting students. Has any senior BJP leader spoken to them? Where we seek solutions, the BJP creates problems. While we aim to work for the students’ welfare, they engage in politics. This is their only agenda.”
He further questioned, “Why isn’t the BJP asking why Amit Shah is not attending the House? Why aren’t they demanding accountability?”
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MLA Dr. Ragini Sonkar also criticized the BJP, alleging that they have started a contract system under the guise of Hindutva. She claimed that anyone who speaks against them is attacked, while those who carry out these attacks are welcomed with garlands. Recently, during a protest by youth, an attack was orchestrated against Abhijit Dipke. Now, the person responsible for that attack has been welcomed with flowers after being released from jail.
Sonkar pointed out that student Neha was part of the CJPP protest, advocating for the rights of NEET students. After she reached Jharkhand, she was attacked with ink. “You are revealing your character; if someone is Hindu, they must get a certificate from the BJP to be recognized as such. Our party president has consistently commented on the students’ protests in Ranchi. When the CJPP protest occurred, no opposition leader reached the stage. If discussions had taken place at the right time, we could have arrived at a proper conclusion. You have not even attempted to establish dialogue. Today, there was still discussion in Parliament regarding the Ranchi protest.”
