New Delhi, August 11: SP MLA Dr. Ragini Sonkar has leveled serious allegations against the Yogi government and the BJP regarding the CJP protests, NEET candidates’ movement, and student demonstrations in Ranchi. She stated that when youth took to the streets to demand their rights, they were attacked, and those responsible for the assaults were later welcomed with garlands.
Regarding the dress code implemented at ISKCON temples, Sonkar remarked, “The temple has its own decision. ISKCON has its own community across the country. This is their choice. Attire does not reflect any foreign tradition; it is about comfort and personal preference.”
The UP government has initiated a pilot project aimed at enhancing natural farming and rural income, purchasing cow urine from farmers at a rate of 10 rupees per liter. Sonkar criticized the government, claiming it is compromising children’s futures, youth prospects, women’s safety, and farmers’ prosperity through paper leaks, recruitment scams, and reservation frauds.
On the issue of denying maternity leave for the fourth child of women in government jobs, Sonkar mentioned that a discussion in Parliament was planned but has yet to occur. She emphasized that all aspects of this matter should be debated, and sudden decisions should be avoided.
Commenting on the singing of “Vande Mataram” at the Red Fort, she said, “We have all heard the initial lines, and I can sing them too. We respect it, but if additional lines are added, I personally have no objection.”
For the upcoming 2027 UP elections, the SP has announced its first candidate. Sonkar stated, “The SP is not a party of any single caste; it aims to represent the entire society. Every caste will have opportunities based on the prevailing equations. There is nothing to appease anyone. This has made the BJP anxious, as they had previously favored certain castes, which are now losing their influence.”
She further asserted that all communities will unite to shape UP’s future. The BJP has begun exploiting Hindutva, attacking anyone who opposes them. Those who carry out these attacks are welcomed with garlands. Recently, during a protest by the youth, an attack was orchestrated on Abhijit Dipke. When the assailant was released from jail, he was also welcomed with flowers.
Sonkar noted that Neha was part of the CJP protest, advocating for NEET candidates’ rights. Afterward, she was attacked with ink in Jharkhand. “Your actions reveal your character; if someone is Hindu, they must seek a certificate from the BJP to be recognized as such,” she stated. The national president of her party has consistently addressed the student protests in Ranchi. During the CJP protest, no opposition leader reached the stage. If discussions had taken place at the right time, the outcomes could have been different. There has been no effort to establish dialogue. Today, some discussions regarding the Ranchi protest occurred in Parliament.
