Congress Leader Critiques Madhya Pradeshs Old Bus Service Initiative
Congress leader Jitu Patwari criticizes Madhya Pradeshs new bus service for using old vehicles, questioning their safety and fitness.

Bhopal, September 25 (Daily Kiran) : In Bhopal, Congress state president Jitu Patwari has raised concerns over the recently launched Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service in Madhya Pradesh. He alleges that the government is putting old buses, some over a decade old, back on the roads after mere cosmetic repairs, promoting this as a significant achievement.
The state government claims that the Sugam Transport Service aims to improve connectivity for both urban and rural areas. However, Patwari argues that while starting any new service is a positive step, it is misleading to showcase a few refurbished buses as a major accomplishment. He emphasizes that the government should not rely solely on promotional statistics.
Patwari also pointed out that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been in power in Madhya Pradesh for nearly 25 years. He stated that if there are deficiencies in the state’s transport system, the government cannot evade responsibility. He criticized government officials for focusing on the appearance of the buses instead of addressing critical issues such as the vehicles’ age, fitness, safety, and the amenities provided to passengers.
He insisted that merely repainting and repairing old buses does not transform them into new ones. The government must inform the public about the actual condition of these buses, how their fitness is ensured, and what safety measures are in place for passengers.
In his remarks regarding the Sugam Transport Service, Patwari noted that if this initiative fails, the responsibility should lie with the previous BJP government’s policies and decisions. He urged the government to take credit for new initiatives while also acknowledging the failures of the old system.
