New Delhi, March 28: Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has accused Israel of advancing its vision for a Greater Israel while eliminating any possibility of a Palestinian state. He also criticized the central government, claiming it lacks the courage to speak the truth to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Ramesh stated, “Today marks the 28th day of U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory actions. Over the past four weeks, while the world’s attention has been focused on the Strait of Hormuz and the energy infrastructure of Gulf nations, Israel has continued its brutal actions against the people of Gaza, initiated efforts to create a significant buffer zone in southern Lebanon, and taken decisive steps to solidify its control over the West Bank.”
He further noted, “The ongoing war in West Asia is providing Israel with cover to advance its Greater Israel vision and eliminate any possibility of a Palestinian state.”
Additionally, Ramesh questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel last month. He mentioned in his ‘X’ post, “The U.S.-Israeli bombings on Iran began just two days after PM Modi returned from Israel. What is often overlooked is that shortly before his arrival, the Israeli cabinet approved land registration for nearly half of the occupied West Bank for the first time since 1967.”
The Congress leader continued, “This will displace millions of Palestinians from their land. Yet, PM Modi lacks the courage to speak the truth to his friend Benjamin Netanyahu and raise his voice on this issue.”
