CM Yogi Pays Tribute to Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna on His Death Anniversary

Lucknow, March 17: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended a tribute ceremony on Tuesday to honor the late former Chief Minister Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, held on his death anniversary. The event took place in the state capital, Lucknow, where the Chief Minister paid homage by placing flowers at Bahuguna’s statue and recalling his significant contributions.

CM Yogi described Bahuguna as a beloved politician, skilled administrator, and freedom fighter, stating that he elevated the development of Uttar Pradesh to new heights. He emphasized that Bahuguna’s life exemplifies struggle, dedication, and public service, serving as an inspiration for future generations.

The Chief Minister noted that Bahuguna was born in a small village in the then Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand) in the Pauri district. He received his early education in his village before moving to Prayagraj for further studies. During his time in Prayagraj, he became involved in student politics and played an active role in the freedom movement.

CM Yogi recounted that Bahuguna was arrested during the 1942 movement as a student leader. After independence, he held numerous significant positions, including representative, minister, chief minister, and central minister, excelling in every role.

He highlighted that Bahuguna gave Prayagraj a new identity and made substantial contributions to the state’s development. His efforts were dedicated to uplifting all sections of society, expanding national consciousness, and promoting the welfare of the common people. The Chief Minister stated that Bahuguna’s life inspires continuous work for public service, commitment, and nation-building.

Earlier, CM Yogi expressed his sentiments on the social media platform X, stating, “On the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter, beloved politician, and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the late Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, I paid tribute today in Lucknow by offering flowers at his statue. He made remarkable contributions to advancing social awareness and national consciousness alongside the country’s independence. I pay my respects to his sacred memories.”
