CM Yogi Adityanath highlights the significance of curiosity and reading at an event honoring student winners in Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed an audience in Gorakhpur on September 28, emphasizing the importance of asking questions and continuous learning. Speaking at an award ceremony organized by a media house at Madan Mohan Malaviya Technology University, he remarked that while artificial intelligence can provide answers and simplify tasks, true learning comes from engaging with good books.
During the event, CM Yogi honored around 70 student winners from various competitions, including science models, painting, and essays, in front of an audience of approximately 500 students. He reflected on the transformation of Uttar Pradesh, which, just over nine years ago, was known for its negative reputation and faced significant challenges, including a high number of vacant police positions.
He noted that since taking office, his government has made the recruitment process transparent, resulting in over 900,000 young people securing jobs in various departments, including more than 230,000 in the police force alone. He emphasized that these recruitments are beyond reproach in terms of transparency.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the security improvements in the state, stating that before 2017, riots were frequent, and curfews were common. He expressed pride that Uttar Pradesh is now a safe state, free from such disturbances, and has emerged as one of the top three economies in the country, tripling its per capita income.
Yogi pointed out the growth of startups in the state, which have surged from just 120 in 2017 to over 24,000 today. He encouraged the youth to not only seek jobs but also create employment opportunities through entrepreneurship. He also mentioned the success of local artisans, particularly in Gorakhpur’s terracotta industry, and the participation of over 2,400 exhibitors in the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show.
The government is also supporting athletes, with a financial reward of six crore rupees and job offers for gold medalists at the Olympics. So far, 550 athletes have received government jobs, with more opportunities on the horizon.
CM Yogi urged parents to avoid putting undue pressure on children regarding grades, advocating for a balance that allows for play and relaxation. He encouraged schools and colleges to incorporate newspapers into their curriculum to enhance students’ language skills and knowledge.
Using the example of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who aspired to be a fighter pilot, he inspired students to persevere in their pursuits. He encouraged them to learn about their city’s heritage, mentioning local landmarks such as the Gorakhnath Temple and Ramgarh Tal.
In closing, he noted the higher representation of girls among the award recipients, asserting that given opportunities, they can excel in any field. He also suggested that MP Ravi Kishan take students to film sets to showcase the filmmaking process, underlining the support available for youth advancement in Gorakhpur.
