Dehradun, March 31: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed strong discontent regarding a recent law and order incident in Dehradun. He has issued clear directives that there will be no compromise on law and order in the state under any circumstances.
As a result of CM Dhami’s orders, Soban Singh, the Deputy Excise Inspector of Area-3 Mussoorie, and In-Charge of Kuthalgate Police Station, Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar, have been suspended with immediate effect.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to launch a comprehensive checking campaign across the state and ensure strict action against all unwanted and unruly elements. He emphasized the need to curb road rage, gunfire, and illegal activities that occur late at night.
He stated unequivocally that the safety of the general public is the state government’s priority, and every necessary step will be taken to ensure it. Police and administration have been directed to act with full rigor and vigilance.
CM Dhami made it clear that officials and employees who show negligence in their duties will not be spared under any circumstances. He cited the recent suspensions of relevant officials in Dehradun as an example of this strict approach, assuring that such actions will continue in the future.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat with senior officials from the Home and Police Departments regarding law and order in the city. He expressed dissatisfaction over the increase in road rage and unruly incidents, directing that monitoring be intensified and strict actions be taken against troublemakers.
The Chief Secretary has also instructed an increase in police patrols in Dehradun city and surrounding areas. He directed the SSP of Dehradun to enhance patrols during peak hours. He emphasized the need for both day-night and morning patrols to be increased.
He instructed that the closing times for bars and restaurants be strictly enforced. Measures should be taken to prevent Dehradun from becoming a hub for parties and unruly behavior over the weekends, with strict actions against troublemakers. The Chief Secretary also called for stringent actions against bar operators who do not comply with operational regulations. He insisted that negligent officials should also face consequences for their lack of diligence.
Furthermore, he highlighted the need for monitoring open homestays in the surrounding areas. A mapping of these homestays should be conducted to ensure they are not misusing their tourism promotion licenses for bar operations. A thorough verification campaign for tenants and PG residents should also be initiated.
