Kathua, 17 August (Kiran News). Four people lost their lives and six others were injured in a cloudburst in a remote village of Kathua district, Jammu & Kashmir.

Officials reported that the cloudburst occurred between Saturday and Sunday night in Jod Valley village of Rajbagh, causing extensive damage. The road leading to the village has been blocked and there has been significant loss of property. After much effort, a joint team of the police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) managed to reach the site and started relief operations.
Authorities said that so far, four bodies have been recovered, while six others were rescued in injured condition and taken to hospital. It was also informed that landslides occurred in Bagad and Changda villages under Kathua police station area, and Dilwan-Hutli under Lakhanpur police station area, but no major damage has been reported from these places.
Officials added that due to heavy rainfall, the water levels in most reservoirs have risen rapidly and the Ujh river is flowing close to the danger mark. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and has appealed to people to stay away from reservoirs.
