Chinese Premier Inspects Guangxi Autonomous Region

Beijing, May 2: Chinese Premier Li Qiang conducted an inspection tour of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from April 29 to May 1.

In Nanning, Li Qiang reviewed the water irrigation junction and emergency rescue projects. He emphasized that the development of the water network is a strategic measure to enhance flood control and disaster mitigation capabilities, optimize water resource allocation, and safeguard national water security. The water network also encompasses various capacities, including transportation, environmental protection, and tourism. He stressed the need to accelerate the construction of the water network while strengthening interconnections.

Meanwhile, in Qinzhou, Li Qiang received updates on canal construction. He noted that the Fenglu Canal is a key project in the new land-sea corridor in the western region of the country. It plays a crucial role in river-sea and land-sea connectivity. The construction of the canal and major junctions must be of high quality to ensure navigation opens as scheduled. During a visit to the automated container terminal, Li Qiang stated that improvements in port facilities should enhance intelligent operations.

In Beihai, Li Qiang gathered information on ecological conservation. He highlighted that water ecological conservation is a vital part of the water network’s construction. The distribution of water resources in China is uneven. It is essential to effectively develop major water diversion projects to enhance resource allocation capacity and ensure water supply reliability.
