
Beijing, May 16: The “Chinese Film+” forum took place on May 13 during the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Representatives from the film industries of China, France, and other countries gathered to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the film sector.
Attendees highlighted the profound impact of AI on the film industry’s ecosystem. China’s film sector is actively utilizing technologies such as AI-generated content (AIGC), virtual production, and smart shooting techniques.
Several AIGC films produced in China were showcased during the forum. These included the country’s first AI-generated animated film, its first AI-generated documentary, and its inaugural science fiction film.
Chinese film director Li Shaohong emphasized that film is inherently a technological art form, inseparable from advancements in technology. Each technological innovation inspires upgrades and transformations in filmmaking.
French AI film expert Adrien Gautreau noted that the best video generation models now originate from China. He predicted that Chinese creators will soon present appealing themes to Western, French, and even European audiences. The collision of diverse cultures and creativity will foster new cultural exchanges and creative experiences.
