
Beijing, May 8: Recent data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reveals a significant increase in the value added by large-scale electric and information manufacturing enterprises. In the first quarter of this year, these enterprises, with annual revenues exceeding 20 million yuan, experienced a year-on-year growth of 13.6%. This figure surpasses the overall industry growth of 7.5% and the high-tech manufacturing sector’s growth of 1.1% during the same period.
In March, the value added by large-scale electric and information manufacturing industries rose by 12.5% compared to the previous year. Notably, the production of smartphones reached 298 million units, marking a 6.9% increase from the same period last year. Additionally, the number of integrated circuits produced soared to 127.2 billion, reflecting a remarkable year-on-year growth of 24.3%.
The total revenue for the electric and information manufacturing sector in the first quarter amounted to 4.31 trillion yuan, representing a 14.8% increase compared to the previous year. Profits also saw a substantial rise, totaling 217 billion yuan, which is more than 1.25 times higher than the same period last year.
