Chinas Box Office Revenue Surpasses 24.5 Billion Yuan in 2026

Beijing, August 11: According to data from online platforms, China’s total box office revenue for films in 2026 has exceeded 24.5 billion yuan, including pre-sales. The number of moviegoers has surpassed 600 million, with over 926 million screenings held.

Currently, the top four films at the 2026 box office are ‘Pegasus 3’, ‘Kung Fu Women’s Soccer’, ‘Dear You’, and ‘All Wishes Come True’, grossing 4.4 billion, 2.2 billion, 2 billion, and 1.4 billion yuan, respectively. These films complement each other in genre and cater to various audience segments, strengthening the overall box office performance throughout the year.

Among them, the comedy film ‘Kung Fu Women’s Soccer’ tells the thrilling story of the grassroots women’s football team, the ‘Amei Team’, who use Kung Fu to fight for the ‘Supreme Invincible Cup’ and win the championship. The film ‘Dear You’ narrates a poignant tale of how the elderly generation of migrant Chinese, who went to Southeast Asia for their livelihoods, remembers their relatives and supports one another.

The animated comedy ‘All Wishes Come True!’ is inspired by the traditional story of eight immortal deities. It creates a Penglai Wonderland using lush landscapes, showcasing the essence of Eastern aesthetics.
