Beijing, May 1: According to data from online platforms, the box office collection of films released during the May Day holiday in China has exceeded 100 million yuan on its first day. As of May 1, 2026, the total box office revenue for films in China has surpassed 13 billion yuan, including pre-sales.

The 2026 May Day film season features a variety of genres, including revolutionary history, action, suspense, comedy, and animation, offering audiences a rich and diverse cinematic experience.

During the May Day holiday, China Media Group’s CCTV News launched a media program titled “Travel with Light and Shadow: Following Films on a Journey.” This initiative aims to ignite enthusiasm for cultural tourism and highlight new experiences related to film-themed travel, leveraging the popularity of films.

As part of this event, CCTV News collaborated with several airlines and China Railway Group to create themed flights and trains, integrating a cinematic atmosphere throughout the journey.
