
Kuala Lumpur, May 16: The 2026 China Smart Technology Exhibition commenced in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, on May 15. This event showcased advanced data center construction, intelligent bionic robot research and development collaboration, and the application of digital communication technologies. Chinese and Malaysian tech companies engaged in extensive exchanges and cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), information and communication, and intelligent manufacturing sectors.
Over 50 companies from China and Malaysia participated in this year’s exhibition, with more than 200 representatives from political, business, technology, and enterprise sectors in attendance.
During the opening ceremony, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sent a congratulatory letter, stating that the exhibition serves as a vital platform for enhancing exchanges between Malaysia and China. He emphasized its significance in promoting smart industries, digital innovation, and advanced technologies, which will deepen bilateral relations and contribute to the economic development of both nations.
In her address, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Communications, Tio Nee Ching, highlighted that Malaysia views international cooperation as a key driver for the development of the digital economy. She welcomed Chinese companies to deepen collaboration with Malaysian partners in areas such as advanced digital technologies, AI, 5G applications, and clean energy solutions to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yiqing, expressed China’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Malaysia in fields like scientific and technological innovation, digital economy, and AI. He emphasized the importance of enhancing research and development collaboration, fostering people-to-people exchanges, and industrial synergy to better contribute to the economic and social development of both countries, while positively impacting regional prosperity, stability, and sustainable development.
