Beijing, February 5: On February 4, during an open meeting of the Security Council, China’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Sun Lei, urged the international community to unite against terrorism.
Sun Lei emphasized the need for a collective approach based on equality, comprehensive cooperation, and sustainable security concepts. He called for a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, denouncing double standards and advocating for strengthened solidarity to safeguard international peace and security.
He pointed out that groups such as the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda, and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement continue to pose threats to Afghanistan and its neighboring countries. China urges the Afghan interim government to take decisive actions against these terrorist forces to eliminate their influence.
Furthermore, China supports enhancing cooperation among Central Asian countries, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and Afghanistan. This collaboration aims to address cross-border terrorism threats and assist in Afghanistan’s economic development, thereby tackling the root causes of terrorism. Sun Lei reiterated China’s readiness to work with all parties to combat terrorism in any form.
