Lucknow, May 7: In a significant move towards enhancing transparency in government recruitment, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed appointment letters to 481 selected candidates from the Ayush Department, Vocational Education and Skill Development Department, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. The event took place on Thursday.
During the ceremony held at Lok Bhawan, the Chief Minister emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mission Employment,’ the state government is consistently organizing appointment letter distribution programs. To date, over 900,000 young people have secured government jobs. He noted that there has been no need for recommendations at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring that ethical standards are maintained.
CM Yogi highlighted that previously, recruitment was influenced by money, caste, religion, and region, leading to the exploitation of deserving candidates. Now, merit is the sole criterion for selection in Uttar Pradesh. He stated that allowing corrupt individuals into the system could undermine it for decades. Therefore, the government has committed to eradicating corruption and leaks from the recruitment process from day one.
He praised the roles of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission and the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, stating that accountability, technology, and transparency have made UP the leading state in the country for job appointments.
Over the past nine years, the government has set new records in distributing appointment letters. CM Yogi remarked that it was previously unimaginable for young people in UP to receive government jobs through a fair and transparent process. By delegating accountability to various commissions and boards and utilizing technology, the government has ensured justice for every deserving candidate. This is evident in the distribution of over 900,000 appointment letters, with this being the fourth such event in the last 15 days.
Reflecting on the state’s past, CM Yogi recalled that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was viewed with suspicion. However, he expressed pride that now, when people hear UP’s name, they respond positively, indicating a significant change in perception.
The Chief Minister also noted that the state has tripled its per capita income, annual budget, and overall economy. Uttar Pradesh is now a revenue surplus state and a growth engine for the national economy. It has become the state with the highest number of appointment letters issued, the most expressways constructed, and the most support provided to farmers.
He pointed out that before 2017, the MSME sector was nearly stagnant, but now UP has the highest number of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the country. Over 3 million people are employed in 9.6 million MSME units. Last year, more than 4,000 large industries were established, increasing the total from 14,000 to over 32,000 in nine years. Once considered one of the bottom three states, UP is now among the top three.
CM Yogi highlighted the potential of Ayush health tourism, stating that it could bring about miraculous changes. The government aims to enhance Ayushman health temples in villages and promote traditional healing methods effectively. Today, 202 professors, medical officers, and staff nurses received appointment letters, contributing to the realization of Prime Minister Modi’s vision.
He further emphasized the importance of the Vocational Education and Skill Development Department, which is crucial for providing skilled manpower to industries. The department has modernized over 150 ITIs in collaboration with Tata Technologies, offering certificate courses in areas like artificial intelligence, drone technology, and cybersecurity.
CM Yogi concluded by discussing the empowerment of persons with disabilities, emphasizing the need for empathy and the potential within every individual. The department has made significant strides, including establishing pension facilities, two universities for persons with disabilities, and special centers at each divisional headquarters.
Present at the event were state ministers and other dignitaries, including Kapil Dev Agarwal, Narendra Kumar Kashyap, and Dr. Dayashankar Mishra.
