New Delhi, March 14: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has continued its questioning of Jai Anmol Ambani, son of industrialist Anil Ambani, for the second consecutive day regarding a ₹228 crore bank fraud case.
Sources indicate that the interrogation took place from 11 AM to 4 PM, lasting approximately six hours. This questioning is related to the alleged bank fraud involving Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL). Several individuals, including the former CEO and former full-time director Ravindra Sudhalkar, are also implicated in this case, with Jai Anmol Ambani named among the accused. However, there has been no immediate response from the company regarding this matter.
The CBI had previously questioned Jai Anmol Ambani on Friday. According to the investigation agency, the interrogation occurred at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi. Officials reported that he was asked detailed questions about various aspects of the case and was requested to return for further questioning on Saturday.
On December 9, 2025, the CBI had conducted a search operation at Jai Anmol Ambani’s residence in Mumbai after registering a First Information Report (FIR) in this case. This action was initiated based on a complaint from Union Bank of India (formerly Andhra Bank), which alleged that the company failed to repay a loan, resulting in the account being classified as a non-performing asset (NPA) in 2019.
The CBI registered the case on December 6, 2025, implicating Reliance Home Finance Limited, Jai Anmol Ambani, Ravindra Sudhalkar, and several unidentified individuals and government officials. The agency has alleged that a criminal conspiracy, fraud, and misconduct led to a loss of approximately ₹228.06 crore to Union Bank of India.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Reliance Home Finance Limited had taken loans totaling around ₹5,572.35 crore from 18 banks, financial institutions, NBFCs, and corporate entities, including Union Bank of India. The company is accused of misleading these institutions to secure loans, which were subsequently not repaid. A thorough investigation into this matter is ongoing.
Following the acquisition of a search warrant from a special CBI court in Mumbai, the agency conducted raids on December 9, 2025, at two official premises of Reliance Home Finance Limited, Jai Anmol Ambani’s residence, and the residence of the company’s then-director Ravindra Sudhalkar. During these raids, several crucial documents were seized for further investigation.
