CBI Arrests Junior Engineer for Bribery in Major Operation

New Delhi, March 17: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken significant action against corruption by arresting a junior engineer (Electrical) from the South Eastern Railway while accepting a bribe. This operation took place on March 17.

The arrested individual was stationed in the Adra Division of South Eastern Railway in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, working as a site engineer. According to the CBI, the accused demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 in exchange for providing an electrical connection to a private company’s site office.

Based on this complaint, the CBI registered a case on March 16 and planned to apprehend the accused. During the operation, he was caught red-handed while accepting ₹10,000 from the complainant.

The CBI team immediately detained the accused. They also initiated a search operation at his office and residence, which was ongoing at the time of this report.

The CBI indicated that the arrested individual would soon be presented in a competent court. The investigation is still underway, and further revelations are expected.

This operation is viewed as a strong message against corruption in the railway and other government sectors. The CBI’s initiative signals that any negligence or leniency in bribery cases will no longer be tolerated.
