Boxer Jadumani Singh Secures Silver at Commonwealth Games 2026

Glasgow, August 1: Boxer Jadumani Singh has settled for a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He faced a tough defeat against Australia’s Jai Dixon in the men’s 55 kg final, losing by a score of 0-5 at SEC Hall-5 on Saturday.

In the championship match, Singh initially gained an edge, winning the first round against Dixon 3-2, with three referees awarding him 10 points each. However, in the subsequent round, Dixon showcased his dominance, receiving unanimous 10 points from all five judges. By the end of the second round, Dixon led 20-18. The third round saw Dixon maintain his control, again securing 10 points from all judges, which clinched the gold medal for the Australian boxer.

Earlier in the tournament, Singh triumphed over Scotland’s Aaron Cullen with a decisive 5-0 in the round of 32. He followed this with another 5-0 victory against Pakistan’s Sumama Rahman. In the quarter-finals, he defeated Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale 5-0, and in the semi-finals, he overwhelmed Namibia’s Philip Pumulo Mutakela Haoseb with a similar score.

Born in Manipur, amateur boxer Jadumani Singh is recognized as one of India’s most promising young talents, known for his speed, technical precision, and relentless fighting style. After overcoming significant challenges early in his career, he has made a name for himself on both national and international stages. He won the title at the 2026 Senior National Boxing Championship and was honored as the tournament’s ‘Best Boxer.’

Singh has represented India in the World Boxing Cup, World Championship, and Asian Boxing Championship. He is celebrated for his quick hands and showmanship in the ring. After winning silver at the 2025 World Boxing Cup, he brought home gold for the country at the Usti Nad Labem Grand Prix 2026.

Before Singh’s bout, two female boxers secured gold medals for India on Saturday. Preeti Pawar defeated Canada’s Scarlett Savana Delgado 5-0 in the 54 kg category, while Jasmine claimed victory against Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh in the women’s 57 kg category with a score of 5-0.
