BJPs Narayanaswamy Critiques Congress on Vote Bank Politics

Bengaluru, March 28: BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalwadi Narayanaswamy, raised questions about Congress’s strategy on Saturday. He asked how long the Congress party could maintain Muslim support by instilling fear of the BJP.

Speaking to the media at the BJP’s state office, Jagannath Bhavan, Narayanaswamy commented on recent events in the Davanagere South constituency. He emphasized that the youth and more aware members of the community would assess the actions of various parties and make independent decisions. He urged them to maintain their self-respect.

Narayanaswamy stated that the withdrawal of rebel candidate Sadik Pehlwan would not significantly alter the political landscape of the constituency. He remarked, “A torn cloth can only be stitched; it cannot become new,” implying that such political developments would not fundamentally change the existing ground realities. He added that while a knot can be tied in a broken rope, it does not create a new rope.

Regarding minority voting patterns, Narayanaswamy noted that it cannot be claimed that all Muslim voters will support the BJP. He accused Congress of influencing their mindset and alleged that the party uses the Muslim community as a vote bank. Despite opposition from certain factions, he asserted that the BJP remains in power at the national level and emphasized that Muslims in India live secure lives.

In comparison to neighboring countries, he mentioned Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, highlighting the internal challenges they face. He stressed that the Constitution drafted by B.R. Ambedkar provides security to all citizens, including minorities, ensuring their safety.

Criticizing Congress, Narayanaswamy claimed that the concept of ‘Manuvad’ exists solely in the party’s mindset. He stated that it is the BJP’s responsibility to ensure equal rights and opportunities for all sections of society, asserting that the party is fulfilling this role.
