BJP Unveils Promising Manifesto for Tamil Nadu Elections

Chennai, April 14: Union Minister JP Nadda released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Tuesday. The manifesto outlines the party’s development agenda for the state.

A key highlight of the manifesto is the promise to provide ₹2,000 monthly financial assistance to women who are heads of households. Additionally, each family will receive a one-time grant of ₹10,000 to alleviate economic pressures.

The party also pledged to distribute three free LPG cylinders annually during major festivals such as Pongal, Tamil Puthandu, and Diwali.

While unveiling the manifesto, JP Nadda emphasized the empowerment of women-led cooperative organizations. The BJP plans to offer interest-free loans of up to ₹50 lakh to self-help groups and MSMEs. Eligible women will receive ₹25,000 to purchase e-scooters. Farmers will receive an additional ₹3,000 on top of the ₹6,000 provided by the central government, bringing the total to ₹9,000.

In terms of law enforcement, the party proposed a robust framework to combat drug abuse, which includes establishing a ‘Tamil Nadu Drug Eradication Department’ with a dedicated intelligence wing, a helpline, and fast-track courts.

To enhance security, particularly for women and children, the manifesto promises measures such as registering zero-FIRs, increasing CCTV coverage in public transport and institutions, and better utilization of the ‘Nirbhaya Fund.’

The manifesto also includes plans for a high-speed rail corridor connecting Chennai with Bengaluru and Hyderabad, as well as the expansion of a regional rapid transit system in western Tamil Nadu and a semi-urban rail network.

Furthermore, it outlines plans to operate sleeper Vande Bharat trains connecting Chennai with other major metropolitan areas.

In the healthcare sector, the BJP committed to providing free annual health check-ups at home for senior citizens, expanding trauma care facilities, and increasing support for the treatment of rare diseases.

Educational and employment initiatives include offering interest-free loans for students, establishing coaching centers at the district level, and creating one lakh government jobs.
