New Delhi, April 21: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made headlines during a press conference in Chennai by using derogatory terms against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He referred to the Prime Minister as a “terrorist,” prompting a swift backlash from BJP leaders who questioned the Congress party’s mindset and labeled Kharge’s comments as a political conspiracy.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra criticized Congress, asserting that the remarks were a deliberate ploy. He stated, “Calling the Prime Minister a terrorist is not a mistake. If Kharge is trying to clarify, remember this is a calculated conspiracy by Congress. We have seen how Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have made disrespectful comments about PM Modi.”
Patra further emphasized that Rahul Gandhi often uses harsh language against the Prime Minister. He expressed outrage over Kharge’s statement, linking it to the party’s history of sympathizing with terrorists. “This is the same party that refers to Osama bin Laden as ‘Osama Ji’ and stands with notorious terrorists. Congress calls Zakir Naik a messenger of peace while labeling PM Modi a terrorist,” he said.
He questioned why PM Modi is labeled a terrorist, highlighting the government’s initiatives like providing water, housing, and free rations, as well as reserving 33% of seats for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies. “This is the character of Congress,” he remarked.
Patra warned that whenever Congress has used derogatory terms against PM Modi, the public has punished them. “This time too, the people of India will respond,” he asserted.
BJP MP Vinod Tawde condemned Kharge’s remarks, calling them disgraceful and deserving of condemnation. He stated that using such language against the constitutionally elected Prime Minister reveals Congress’s anti-constitutional mentality and their deep-seated hatred for the country’s leader. Tawde urged Kharge to apologize to the nation for his reprehensible act.
In response, Kharge clarified his statement, saying, “I did not say that the Prime Minister is a terrorist. What I meant is that he threatens and intimidates political parties. He has agencies like ED, IT, and CBI at his disposal.”
