Delhi Police Releases AISA President Neha Bora After Arrest During Tricolor March

Neha Bora, president of AISA, has been released by Delhi police after her arrest during a protest march. She demands accountability and the release of others.

New Delhi, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Neha Bora, the national president of the All India Students Association (AISA), was released by the Delhi police after her arrest during a Tricolor March on the evening of October 16. Authorities detained her near Mandi House, but she was freed following the completion of formal procedures under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.

After her release from the RK Puram police station, Bora spoke with the media, reiterating her demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. She also called for the release of fellow protester Abhijit Dipke and others who were taken into custody.

Bora stated, “The Indian government has long crossed the line between legal and illegal. It has become common for people to be detained without reason and held for hours. This is evident in the ongoing protests, where demonstrators are regularly arrested and released the next morning or evening. We need to question the legality of these actions and how they instill fear in ordinary citizens.”

She further emphasized the impact of protests on local businesses, urging the Chief Election Commissioner and the BJP to abandon their arrogance. “The Chief Election Commissioner should resign to prevent further harm to traders,” she added.

Regarding the detention of Abhijit Dipke, Bora remarked, “He should be released immediately. I was unaware of his arrest, but all those unlawfully detained should be freed. They are ordinary citizens demanding accountability and their right to vote. Holding people overnight at police stations serves no purpose.”
