New Delhi, August 12: BJP MP Janardan Mishra has fiercely countered SP MP Ramji Lal Suman’s remarks regarding ‘Vande Mataram‘. He stated that singing the two verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ was a capitulation of Congress to the Muslim League. In response to Congress MP Pawan Khera’s comments about the RSS, Mishra questioned, “If Nehru could not eliminate the RSS, how can Khera?”
Mishra emphasized, “Singing those two verses was a surrender of Congress to the Muslim League. Today, India is a free nation. Millions sacrificed their lives singing ‘Vande Mataram’ during the freedom struggle. The Congress party itself led a movement singing ‘Vande Mataram’. Therefore, such statements are completely anti-national and will deeply hurt the souls of the martyrs.”
SP MP Ramji Lal Suman had claimed that singing ‘Vande Mataram’ from the Red Fort was an attack on the secular character of the nation. He argued that the two verses were agreed upon by the Constituent Assembly so that people of all religions could sing them. He accused the current government of imposing an agenda against India’s secularism.
In response to Khera’s remarks about the RSS, Mishra stated, “Nehru once said he would eliminate the RSS. Let them continue their attempts, but despite their efforts, the RSS has emerged as the world’s largest volunteer organization. If Nehru could not eliminate the RSS, how can they?”
Pawan Khera had previously alleged that BJP had infiltrated their youth wing. He expressed awareness of the ongoing situation and vowed that if their government came to power, they would dismantle the RSS. Khera also raised concerns about police action against students during a peaceful protest in Jharkhand, questioning whether such demonstrations should be suppressed.
Regarding the dress code at the ISKCON temple, he mentioned that it is a private arrangement based on their traditions and beliefs.
