BJP Legislators and Workers Protest at Chief Ministers Residence in Jharkhand

Ranchi, August 10: In Jharkhand, BJP legislators and workers staged a protest on Monday against irregularities in the JPSC-JSSC examinations. They gathered in front of the Chief Minister‘s residence on Kanke Road, vocally opposing the government.

The police detained several protesters, including some legislators. Meanwhile, thousands of students marched from the old assembly premises towards the new assembly building. Prior to the protest at the Chief Minister’s residence, a meeting was held under the leadership of state president Babulal Marandi to strategize regarding the student movement and the government’s stance. Following this, BJP legislators and workers moved towards the Chief Minister’s residence around 9:45 AM.

Upon reaching the Chief Minister’s residence, BJP workers chanted slogans against the government and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The police had set up barricades to prevent the protesters from advancing. A significant police presence was deployed in response to the situation, leading to the detention of several BJP legislators and workers.

Simultaneously, the movement among JPSC-JSSC candidates intensified. A large number of students gathered around the old assembly premises since morning, carrying flags, banners, and placards, chanting slogans in support of their demands as they headed towards the new assembly building. During their advance, many students managed to breach the first barricade set up for security.

Following this, the police and administration tightened security measures. Numerous police officers were stationed along the routes leading to the assembly premises. The students are demanding an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams, the cancellation of controversial exams, and improvements in the recruitment process. A third round of talks between the government and student representatives on Sunday also ended without resolution, prompting the students to announce their intention to encircle the assembly on Monday.

The simultaneous protests by students and the BJP’s encirclement of the Chief Minister’s residence have heightened political and administrative pressure in the capital. Security measures around the assembly and the Chief Minister’s residence have been significantly strengthened.
