BJP Leaders Respond to Congress on Vande Mataram Controversy: The Nation Will Not Tolerate Insults to Mother India

New Delhi, August 20: The ruling party has expressed strong objections to the Congress party’s recent decision regarding the singing of ‘Vande Mataram.’ BJP leaders accused Congress of engaging in low-level vote bank politics, asserting that the nation will not tolerate any insult to Mother India.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated on Thursday in Patna, “Thousands of revolutionaries chanted ‘Vande Mataram’ and willingly faced the gallows, sacrificing their lives for the country. ‘Vande Mataram’ is a symbol of India’s pride. Not singing the entire ‘Vande Mataram’ is not just an insult to the song; it is also an insult to Mother India.”

He further criticized Congress, claiming that their mindset has not changed since 1937, when they decided not to sing the full ‘Vande Mataram’ under pressure from the Muslim League. He argued that Congress remains disconnected from India’s culture, values, traditions, and roots, continuing to engage in vote bank politics.

Chouhan questioned, “Is Congress above Parliament and the Constitution?” He emphasized, “The nation will not tolerate this insult to Mother India. Congress will never be forgiven by the country.”

Meanwhile, BJP MP Anurag Thakur took to social media platform X on Thursday, stating, “Congress has finally admitted that it will continue to oppose ‘Vande Mataram.’ The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has decided that Congress will only sing two stanzas of ‘Vande Mataram.’ Congress considers itself above the nation and the Constitution. When Parliament passes a law, citizens must abide by it; that is what the Constitution states. India will not tolerate any insult to the Constitution.”

Bihar government minister Vijay Sinha, speaking to reporters, remarked, “Congress is mentally enslaved, and its members are like bonded laborers. Sonia Gandhi, who is far removed from Indian culture and does not even understand the meaning of ‘Vande Mataram,’ will find such appeasement decisions to be self-destructive. This country will not accept anyone who does not respect Mother India.”
