New Delhi, August 12: On the occasion of Greenery Amavasya, celebrated on the new moon day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Sawan, a nationwide festival honoring nature and Lord Shiva is being observed. Central ministers, chief ministers, and senior leaders have conveyed their best wishes to citizens, reiterating their commitment to nature conservation and tree planting.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to social media platform X to express, “Heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all devotees and nature lovers on the auspicious occasion of Greenery Amavasya! May the blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati remain in every home, bringing happiness, prosperity, and well-being.”
Chouhan emphasized, “Greenery Amavasya is a festival to express gratitude to nature. This celebration will be meaningful only if we all plant at least one tree today. All members of the Tree Friends family have pledged to celebrate this sacred occasion through tree planting. Let us exchange plants on this auspicious day. Plant trees and commit to caring for them as if they were our own children.”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared on X, “Greenery Amavasya is a sacred festival of gratitude towards nature, worship of Shiva, and the well-being of creation. On this auspicious occasion, I pray to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati that happiness, prosperity, and peace flow into every life, and may our Earth always be filled with greenery and abundance. Wishing everyone a joyful Greenery Amavasya.”
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also posted on social media, “Warm wishes to all residents of the state on the auspicious occasion of Greenery Amavasya!”
Rajasthan’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar described Greenery Amavasya as a symbol of the deep connection between Indian culture and nature. He stated, “In Indian culture, nature has always been revered as a mother. Greenery Amavasya is a sacred festival that reminds us of this eternal tradition and our heartfelt bond with nature.”
He urged people to plant a tree on this occasion, not just to enhance greenery but to secure life, water, and pure air for future generations. He said, “Let us together realize the pledge of ‘Green Rajasthan’ and contribute to making Mother Earth green, prosperous, and safe.”
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also extended his wishes for Greenery Amavasya, stating, “Greenery Amavasya is a sacred festival of gratitude towards nature, worship of Shiva, and the well-being of creation. On this auspicious occasion, I pray to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati that happiness, prosperity, and peace flow into every life, and may our Earth always be filled with greenery and abundance.”
