Gandhinagar, March 17: BJP leader Rohan Gupta has responded to Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge’s statement, which labeled the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the most corrupt organization in the country.
In an interview with a news agency, Gupta raised concerns about the relationship between Congress and Pakistan following a report from an American organization. He accused some individuals of siding with Pakistan while opposing the government.
Gupta further stated that the same report also contained remarks against the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He questioned whether the opposition accepts the claims made against RAW if they trust that report. He termed this attitude as ‘anti-national mentality’ and emphasized that the opposition’s role should not merely be to oppose every issue.
Regarding the LPG supply issue, he mentioned that while the opposition engages in ‘petty politics,’ the central government is focused on ensuring energy security. He asserted that despite rising global petrol prices, India has managed to keep prices under control, which he views as a victory for government policy and public trust.
Gupta also noted that due to the opposition’s attempts to create a negative atmosphere, LPG bookings surged from 5 million to 8.8 million, but the government managed to handle the situation. According to him, the government’s priority is public safety, while the opposition prioritizes politics.
Additionally, when the BJP raised the 2008 ‘cash for votes’ scandal, Gupta targeted Congress, stating that during their rule, bundles of cash were waved in Parliament, and scandals like the Bofors case emerged, whereas such accusations are absent against the current government.
He concluded by asserting that this is the fundamental difference between the two governments, and the public has not forgotten Congress’s history.
